How to
-
Get the OpenDAoC client
Bindstone plays with OpenDAoC’s free game client (version 1.127). The official download from EA is version 1.130 and does not work with Bindstone.
Get the OpenDAoC installer On Mediafire, about 3.3 GB · or use the Mega mirror- It’s a zip: unzip all three files (the .exe and two .bin files) into one folder first, then run OpenDAoCInstaller-1.0.0.exe.
- Windows may say “Windows protected your PC” (the installer isn’t signed): click More info, then Run anyway.
- Tip: when it asks where to install, choose C:\OpenDAoC. Then Bindstone never needs administrator permission.
- Don’t start OpenDAoC’s own launcher; Bindstone does that.
Links from OpenDAoC’s client page.
-
Download Bindstone
Unzip it and run Bindstone.exe from anywhere, for example your Downloads folder. It keeps itself up to date.
-
Run Bindstone and play
Sign in with the account you made here. Bindstone finds the OpenDAoC client and patches it. If the realm is asleep, Bindstone wakes it and starts the game as soon as it is online. Once you are in, the Bindstone Helper stays beside the game.
- OpenDAoC in Program Files? Bindstone needs administrator permission to patch it there. Right-click Bindstone.exe → Run as administrator: it installs the update and starts the game. Bindstone doesn’t update itself while it runs as administrator, so download it again here when a new one comes out.
Windows may warn that Bindstone.exe isn’t signed yet: choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”. Bindstone keeps OpenDAoC’s original files as .stock copies, and Restore stock client (or Bindstone.exe --restore-stock) puts them back.
The game client is made available by the OpenDAoC project; Bindstone is not affiliated with OpenDAoC, Broadsword or Electronic Arts.
Can’t get in? Send your Bindstone log
Pick bindstone-play.log from the folder where Bindstone.exe is. It never holds your password. Only the realm’s owner can read it.
The Bindstone Helper: the strip that stays beside the game once you are in. Six buttons. Most are for your own character; Spawn Elite AA and the orders under Bots move the realms.
Your first night in Bindstone: one evening, using the Helper’s buttons in order.
- Ready Up. Press Ready Up, take Level 50 and the capped set (choose your class at your trainer first if you are new).
- Crew Up. A balanced eight around your class, or a named crew.
- Buffs. All Buffs, on you and the group.
- Travel. To the war ground; the strip shows where the war is tonight.
- Fight. The gamebots hold the keeps and run the raids; your crew sticks with you. /crew rejoin brings them back.
- Bots. When you want the whole realm moved, send it at a keep or call a raid from the Bots button.
Your first night in Bindstone
- Pick a realm and bind at your capital. Albion, Midgard or Hibernia. Your bind point is home; the stone at your capital is where you'll keep coming back. /tc takes you to your capital's Realm Exchange when you need it.
- Fill your group. Crew Up in the Bindstone app fills it out to your realm's standard eight: a song-and-speed support, two healers, a crowd controller who keeps the adds asleep, a shield tank who stands in front, melee for steady damage and casters for the big hits. /spawn adds one class at a time, and /classes lists your realm's classes and what each one does in a party.
- Start the fight on your terms. Target something and /pull: your tank goes in first when it can and the rest follow. Found a good camp? /grind keeps pulling from where you stand until you say /grind stop.
- Set their mood. /defensive keeps the group near you and lets the fight come to you, good for harder pulls. /aggressive is the default: they jump on whatever you hit.
- Find your people. /tele <name> jumps you to one of your realm's gamebots by name, and /faction <message> talks to everyone in your realm, players and armies alike.
- Join an expedition. When your realm marches on a raid you'll hear about it; /raidport drops you at the staging point (not mid-fight, once a minute).
- The war doesn't wait. Your realm's armies keep fighting in the Old Frontiers while you're offline, so check the war below before you log in.
- House rules. One account per person. Companions are for your own group only; there are no companion raids for players. No hacks, no bots of your own, no exploits, and no GMs: everybody plays by the same rules.
